The topic for this month is:
Qigong and Fascia - The Flow of the Inner Web ~ Let's Practice!
One of the most exciting areas of modern research is the study of fascia.
Fascia is a web of connective tissue that surrounds and connects every muscle, bone, organ, nerve, and blood vessel in the body.
Once thought to be little more than soft tissue, researchers now recognize it as an essential part of how we move, maintain balance, transmit force, and even sense our bodies.
While fascia is a relatively new focus in modern science, many of the principles being discovered today closely parallel ideas that have been central to Qigong for centuries!
In Traditional Chinese medicine, the closest equivalent is Jin - the body's inner web and network of sinews and connective tissues.
Through slow, mindful movement, Qigong naturally helps cultivate elasticity and integration creating the conditions for healing and feeling 'at home' in the body. 🏡
In this Qi Chat, we'll explore:
- What fascia is and why it's important
- Some fascinating recent discoveries about the body's "inner web"
- How modern fascia research relates to Qigong
- The concepts of Jin, Peng Jin, and Song
- The concepts of 'Water Flow' and 'Elastic Energy' that nourish and stimulate the fascial network
After our discussion, we'll practice the 'Cheerful Meridians' routine together, experiencing these principles firsthand through movement 🤲
